RISING AGAINST ANTISEMITISM

In the years since the Tree of Life synagogue massacre, we have remained vigilant about enhancing community-wide security and advocating against hate. This year, our work gained new urgency during the 11-day conflict between Israel and Gaza, when anti-Israel sentiment morphed into virulent antisemitism. [Insert local example of antisemitism]. What made these and other developments more alarming: Voices condemning the violence and hateful rhetoric were muted, if not completely silent.  We acted decisively. 

NOW WE GO FORWARD STRENGTHENING SECURITY

In Pittsburgh, Poway, Monsey, and Colleyville, Texas – violent antisemitism has rocked our Jewish communal institutions. But in every instance, the survivors of these attacks stated they would not have made it out alive without the security measures that their institutions implemented. Thanks to a national initiative, LiveSecure, over the next three years, we are committed to ensuring the security and resiliency of our local Jewish community and all Jewish communities across North America. Thanks to the LiveSecure grant, and your local contributions, we'll be able to provide the training, tools, and resources needed to keep Jewish life vibrant and safe.

RE-IMAGINING JEWISH LIFE

What happens to Jewish life when we can’t be physically together? The pandemic forced us to grapple with this question in real time. And the answers were surprising. Because of our support, our partners found ways to make Jewish engagement more accessible to all, a valuable lesson that will help shape post-pandemic life. We also continued to invest in the places where Jewish life takes root, where new leaders find inspiration, and where diversity is fully welcomed. The good news: about one in five Jewish adults indicate that their attachment to being Jewish has increased since the pandemic. 

NOW WE GO FORWARD CREATING MORE DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES

Removing barriers to entry exposed both opportunities and vulnerabilities. As we look to the year ahead, we see a Jewish community that is more diverse. More vibrant. More encompassing. This year we are committed to creating a culture of belonging for all Jews and their loved ones while building bridges across socially and culturally diverse communities and partners.
