For eight days, 1,773 fires ravaged communities across Israel. The devastating blazes forced more than 75,000 people to flee, destroyed over 600 homes and damaged hundreds more.

The fires are one of the costliest disasters Israel has ever faced—on the financial scale of a major war. Initial estimates put damage at more than $260 million, and project a total cost to the national economy of more than a half-billion dollars.

Jewish Federations are collecting funds to help address Israelis’ greatest needs and start rebuilding.

Our partners are playing critical roles in aiding recovery. The Jewish Agency has given 618 grants to families who lost everything, and helped evacuated seniors find safe temporary housing. JDC is helping strengthen Israel's emergency response systems to ensure that its most vulnerable citizens receive real-time help, 24/7. And we’re working closely with the Israel Trauma Coalition as they provide trauma relief services in the hardest-hit communities.

It will be months before the last displaced Israelis are back in safe and comfortable homes. Before roads and infrastructure are rebuilt. Before firefighters are fully recharged. Join us to be there for Israel, every step of the way.
